GLCS Fine Arts Foundation Scholarship Recipients

The recipient of the 2022 GLCS Fine Arts Foundation Scholarship was Sophi Carahaly.  Sophi participated in PAC for all four years of high school, both onstage and serving on product crews, including co-leading the costumes crew for several shows. Sophi earned a MIFA award for specialty costume design and engineering in competition, and several peer awards throughout the years. Sophi was in marching and concert bands for two years, earning first chair saxophone, and opted to switch to visual and performing arts classes for her junior and senior years.  Sophi plans to pursue statistics with a minor in graphic design.

The recipient of the 2021 GLCS Fine Arts Foundation Scholarship was Paige Treat.  Paige, a first chair clarinet in the GLHS Symphonic Band, also participated in Pep Band, Concert Band, and was Drum Major for the GLHS Marching Band.  Paige is also a self-taught  baritone, player and enjoyed playing percussion as part of the ensemble Vortex Percussion.  Paige attends Western Michigan University, studying Secondary Music Education.

2021 - Paige Treat

The recipient of the 2020 GLCS Fine Arts Foundation Scholarship was Kaitlyn Lemon.  Kait is a talented vocalist, and served as the Student Director for the GLHS Choir.  During her time at Gull Lake, she participated in Choir and Marching Band as a member of the Color Guard, and was a featured vocalist in the Marching Band's program.  Kait was a longstanding member of the Kalamazoo Children’s Chorus and participated in the SW Michigan Vocal Festival Honors Choir.  Kait is studying Multimedia Arts and Technology and Vocal Performance at Western Michigan University. 

2020 - Kaitlyn Lemon

The first recipient of the GLCS Fine Arts Foundation Scholarship was Kylie Buckham.  Kylie, a 2019 graduate of GLHS, Kylie is a talented muscian, both vocally and as a flautist.  During her time at Gull Lake, she particapated in both Marching and Symphonic Bands, and was a featured vocalist in the Marching Band program.  Kylie has also been a member of the Kalamazoo Chiildren’s Choir for nine years.  Kylie is current studying Vocal Performance and Music Education at Oberlin College.
